Meet Saved People: Remember Who You Found. Find Them Again.
· By The Soorse Team
You find someone in your community who could be a great mentor. You meet a potential collaborator at an event. A member has exactly the expertise a friend needs. Then a week goes by, and you find yourself trying to remember their name or repeating the same directory search.
Saved People gives those discoveries a place to live. Save people from the Soorse Directory, group directories, or individual profiles, organize them into your own lists, and leave private notes that help you remember why you wanted to reconnect.
Keep the right people within reach
- Favorite people you want to find quickly. Keep a go-to collection of trusted contacts, helpful community members, and people you want to get to know.
- Organize people around a purpose. Create lists for potential mentors, referral partners, event follow-ups, or your next project. A person can belong to more than one list.
- Give each list context. Add a description explaining what the list is for, such as “Members to reconnect with after the fall alumni meetup.”
- Remember the details with private notes. Write down where you met, what you discussed, or what you want to ask next. Your note stays with the person across your lists.
- Find people again without starting over. Open the Saved tab in the Directory, browse Favorites or a custom list, and search your saved people by name.
Save someone without losing your search
When you are looking for several people, you should be able to keep browsing. The Save button sits alongside the connection controls on main Directory cards, group directory cards, and individual profiles. It opens a modal over the page so you can save someone without navigating away. When browsing a directory, your search and filters stay in place.
- Find someone in the main Directory, a group directory, or their individual profile and select Save beside the connection controls.
- Add them to Favorites or choose your lists. You can also create a custom list and give it a description while saving.
- Add a private note. A short reminder like “Met at the alumni breakfast; ask about mentoring first-time founders” can make a later conversation easier to begin.
- Save your changes and keep exploring. When you are ready to return, open Directory → Saved.
Keep your saved people up to date
In Directory → Saved, each person’s card has Edit / note and Remove controls side by side. Select Edit / note to update their Favorites status, list selections, or private note as your plans change.
If you no longer need to keep someone saved, select Remove. A confirmation explains that this removes the person from Favorites and all your custom lists, including their private note. To remove someone only from Favorites or one list while keeping their note, use Edit / note and uncheck that selection instead.
A few lists worth starting
- People to follow up with: Collect people you met at an event and note the topic you want to revisit.
- Trusted referrals: Keep professionals you may want to recommend together, with notes about their expertise or your experience working with them.
- Potential mentors: Save members whose backgrounds interest you and record the questions you would like to ask.
- Project collaborators: Build a list of people to consider for an initiative, committee, or community project.
For example, you might create a “Spring fundraiser” list with the description “People to talk with about planning our next community event.” Add members as you discover them, then use a note for each person to remember their relevant experience and your next conversation. When planning begins, you have a useful starting point ready.
Your organization stays private
Your Favorites, custom lists, descriptions, and notes are private to your account. Saving someone does not notify them, send a connection request, or message them. You decide when to reach out.
Saved People respects existing profile visibility and blocking settings. Saving a profile does not give you additional access to it. If you delete a custom list, the people and their notes remain in All saved, so you can reorganize without losing your context.
