New Soorse Messaging: A Better Way to Say Hello

· By The Soorse Team

You find someone whose experience catches your attention. You share a community, recognize a mutual connection, or discover them through Ask Soorse AI. Then comes the part that can feel surprisingly difficult: writing the first message.

Soorse’s new messaging experience helps you take that next step. Bring people together in direct and group chats, share photos and files, and start a conversation with a little help from ✦ Break the ice, our new AI introduction feature.

Meet Break the ice: a starting point for your first hello

You do not need a perfect opening line to make a connection. Before the first message in an eligible new chat, select ✦ Break the ice beside Send. Soorse AI drafts a short introduction using verified shared context, such as a group you both belong to or a mutual connection.

For example, if you and John belong to the same business network, an opener might look like this:

Hi John! I noticed we’re both in the Austin Business Network and wanted to introduce myself. I’d love to learn more about what you’re working on and get to know another member of the community.

That is an illustrative example—not a claim about a particular member. Your draft uses the shared context available for the people in your chat. If there is little common ground to draw from, it can offer a straightforward introduction instead.

  1. Open a new direct chat or a three-person introduction draft. Break the ice is available before the conversation’s first message.
  2. Select ✦ Break the ice. The suggested opener appears in your message box. If you have already written something, Soorse asks before replacing it.
  3. Make it sound like you. Edit the wording, add your reason for reaching out, or write something entirely different.
  4. Press Send when you are ready. Generating a draft never sends a message automatically.

Break the ice is free for now and does not count against your Ask Soorse AI message allowance. It helps with first introductions, rather than reading a conversation and writing follow-up replies. Existing messages and your private notes are not used to generate the opener.

Turn an introduction path into a conversation

Ask Soorse AI can help you discover people and see how you are connected. When a verified introduction path is available, Ask for an introduction opens a chat draft with three people: you, your mutual connection, and the person you would like to meet.

You can write the opening yourself or use Break the ice to draft a message addressing both people. Your mutual connection has a place to help with the introduction, and everyone can continue in the same conversation. Opening the draft does not send anything; your first message starts the chat.

More context, less friction

The updated messaging experience keeps useful details close to the conversation:

  • Direct and group chats: Reach out individually or bring people together around a shared purpose.
  • Photos inside the conversation: View supported images directly in chat, with download links when you want to save them.
  • File attachments: Share documents without having to move the discussion elsewhere.
  • Replies with context: Reply to a specific message so others can follow what you mean.
  • Recognizable members: See profile photos and select member names in the header to visit their profiles.
  • Unread counts, read receipts, and saved drafts: Pick up where you left off and keep track of the conversation.
  • Mute and archive: Manage the conversations you want to focus on.

Messaging built into Soorse

Our new messaging system is built on Soorse’s own backend. Conversations and attachments are managed through Soorse, with access checks for participants and protections that respect account blocks.

When you choose Break the ice, limited shared context is sent to our AI provider to create the suggestion. You remain in control of the final wording and whether to send it. The feature does not give AI access to your chat history or private notes.

A connection starts with hello

Think of someone you have been meaning to meet. Open a new conversation, try Break the ice, and make the introduction your own.
